The distinct layers of the Earth’s atmosphere are commonly referred to as atmospheric layers. These include the troposphere, where weather occurs, followed by the stratosphere, which contains the ozone layer. Above that is the mesosphere, and then the thermosphere, where temperatures increase with altitude. Finally, the outermost layer is the exosphere, where atmospheric molecules are sparse.
