Joan of Arc, known as the "Maid of Orléans", was an iconic historical figure in 15th-century France. Born around 1412, she claimed to have received visions from saints instructing her to support Charles VII and help reclaim France from English occupation during the Hundred Years' War. Her leadership in key battles, particularly the Siege of Orléans in 1429, was pivotal in boosting French morale and leading to the coronation of Charles VII. Joan was ultimately captured by Burgundian forces, tried for heresy, and burned at the stake in 1431. She was canonized as a saint in 1920 and remains a symbol of courage and faith.
