Hatshepsut was the first successful female ruler in ancient Egypt, reigning as Pharaoh during the 18th Dynasty around 1479–1458 BCE. She initially served as regent for her stepson, Thutmose III, but later adopted the title of Pharaoh and ruled independently. Hatshepsut is known for her ambitious building projects, including her mortuary temple at Deir el-Bahari, which showcased her power and divine legitimacy.
