Joan of Arc, known as the "Maid of Orléans," played a pivotal role during the Hundred Years' War between France and England. Born around 1412, she claimed to have received divine visions instructing her to support Charles VII and help reclaim France from English occupation. In 1429, she successfully led the French army to lift the siege of Orléans, a significant victory that boosted French morale. Her efforts eventually helped Charles VII to be crowned king. Joan was captured in 1430, tried for heresy, and burned at the stake in 1431. Later canonized by the Catholic Church, she became a symbol of courage and nationalism.
