The Inca Empire is well known for its vast road system and efficient postal service. Spanning across the Andes mountains in South America, the Inca roads connected various communities and facilitated trade, military movement, and communication throughout the empire. The most impressive of these roads was the Qhapaq Ñan, which stretched over 25,000 miles. The Inca also employed an innovative relay system called “chasquis,” which used nimble messengers to carry messages and goods along the roads quickly. This infrastructure significantly contributed to the cohesion and strength of the empire, enabling efficient governance and control.
