The resulting territorial adjustments aimed to contain France and restore monarchies. The Congress established the principle of collective security through the Concert of Europe, promoting diplomatic cooperation among nations. Although it effectively maintained peace in Europe for several decades, underlying nationalistic and revolutionary tensions ultimately challenged the status quo established at Vienna.
