The revolution that occurred in Russia in 1917 was the Russian Revolution, which comprised two major events: the February Revolution and the October Revolution. The February Revolution forced the abdication of Tsar Nicholas II, ending centuries of Romanov rule and leading to the establishment of a provisional government. However, dissatisfaction with this government, particularly regarding ongoing participation in World War I and economic hardship, paved the way for the October Revolution, in which the Bolshevik Party led by Vladimir Lenin seized power.
