The hottest planet in our solar system is Venus. Even though Mercury is closer to the Sun, Venus has a thick atmosphere composed primarily of carbon dioxide, with clouds of sulfuric acid, which causes a severe greenhouse effect. This leads to surface temperatures averaging around 467 degrees Celsius (872 degrees Fahrenheit), making it the hottest planet in our solar system. The extreme heat can melt lead, and the atmospheric pressure is about 92 times that of Earth’s, comparable to the pressure found deep in the ocean. This harsh environment poses significant challenges for any exploration missions.
