Venus is known for having a very slow rotation. A day on Venus, measured from one sunrise to the next, takes about 117 Earth days—significantly longer than its year, which is about 225 Earth days. Interestingly, Venus rotates in the opposite direction to most planets in the solar system, a phenomenon known as retrograde rotation. Its slow and peculiar rotation results in extreme temperature differences between its day and night sides. Venuses's thick atmosphere also contributes to its high surface temperatures and pressure, making it one of the most hostile environments for exploration.
