The organ responsible for the storage of bile is the gallbladder. The gallbladder is a small, pear-shaped organ located beneath the liver. It stores bile, a digestive fluid produced by the liver, that helps break down fats during digestion. When we eat, the gallbladder releases bile into the small intestine to aid in fat digestion and absorption. Though it plays an important role in digestion, individuals can live without a gallbladder, as bile will still flow from the liver to the intestine.
