The largest planet in our solar system is Jupiter. Jupiter is a gas giant, known for its immense size, with a mass more than 300 times that of Earth and a diameter of about 86,881 miles (139,822 kilometers). It is characterized by its striking bands of clouds, intense storms, and the Great Red Spot, a massive storm larger than Earth that has been raging for hundreds of years. Jupiter's strong gravitational pull also influences many of the solar system's other bodies and hosts a diverse range of moons, including the four largest known as the Galilean moons.
