The fruit that is also known as a stone fruit is the peach. Stone fruits, or drupe, are characterized by their hard pits or stones that contain the seed, surrounded by fleshy fruit. Other examples include plums, cherries, and apricots. Peaches are widely cultivated and enjoyed for their sweet, juicy flesh and are rich in vitamins A and C. They can be consumed fresh, canned, or dried, and are often used in desserts, jams, and salads. Because of their favorable growing conditions, peaches thrive in warmer climates, particularly in North America and parts of Asia.
