A Siberian tiger is a subspecies of tiger, known scientifically as Panthera tigris altaica. These majestic big cats are native to the forests and mountains of the Russian Far East, particularly in Siberia. They are recognized for their large size, with males weighing between 400 to 600 pounds and measuring up to 10 feet in length, including their tail. Their thick fur is adapted to cold climates, and they have a distinctive pattern of dark stripes on an orange to tawny coat. Unfortunately, Siberian tigers are critically endangered, with only a few hundred individuals remaining in the wild due to habitat loss and poaching.
