The microscopic organism responsible for causing malaria is the Plasmodium parasite. There are several species of Plasmodium, with Plasmodium falciparum being the most deadly. The malaria transmission cycle occurs when an infected female Anopheles mosquito bites a human, injecting the parasites into the bloodstream. Once inside the human body, the parasites multiply in the liver and subsequently infect red blood cells, leading to symptoms such as fever, chills, and flu-like illness.
