The universe's largest known galaxy is IC 1101, located about 1.04 billion light-years from Earth in the constellation Virgo. It is a supergiant elliptical galaxy and is estimated to be approximately 6 million light-years in diameter, making it so massive that it contains around 100 trillion stars. In comparison, our Milky Way galaxy is much smaller, measuring about 100,000 light-years across.
