The largest type of flower belongs to the Rafflesia arnoldii. Known as the corpse flower, it is famous for its enormous reddish-brown blooms, which can reach up to three feet in diameter. Native to the rainforests of Indonesia, the flower emits a strong odor resembling that of rotting flesh, which attracts pollinators like certain beetles and flies. The plant is a parasitic organism that lives off other plants, lacking true roots, leaves, or stems. Due to habitat loss and overharvesting, Rafflesia arnoldii is considered vulnerable and is protected in its native regions.
