The largest type of big cat is the Siberian tiger (Panthera tigris altaica), also known as the Amur tiger. Found predominantly in the forests and mountains of eastern Russia, these magnificent creatures can weigh up to 660 pounds and measure over ten feet in length, including their tail. Siberian tigers are adapted to cold climates, with thick fur and a body built for survival in harsh conditions. They are solitary animals, mainly hunting deer and other large prey. Unfortunately, they are classified as endangered due to habitat loss, poaching, and declining prey populations, prompting conservation efforts to protect their remaining populations.
