The largest planet in our solar system is Jupiter. This gas giant is known for its massive size, with a diameter of about 86,881 miles (139,822 kilometers), making it more than 11 times wider than Earth. Jupiter’s immense gravity allows it to have a vast array of moons, at least 79 of which have been confirmed, including the four largest known as the Galilean moons: Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto. Jupiter is characterized by its striking bands of clouds, storms, and its Great Red Spot, a giant storm larger than Earth that has raged for centuries.
