Covering more than 63 million square miles, it accounts for over one-third of the Earth's surface and extends from the Arctic Ocean in the north to the Southern Ocean in the south. The Pacific Ocean is also the deepest ocean, containing the Mariana Trench, which plunges to about 36,000 feet. It is home to an incredible diversity of marine life and numerous islands, playing a vital role in global weather patterns, climate, and international trade routes.
