The currency of Belgium is the Euro (€). Belgium adopted the Euro on January 1, 1999, for electronic transactions, and Euro banknotes and coins were introduced on January 1, 2002. Prior to the Euro, the Belgian Franc was the national currency. The Euro is used by 19 of the 27 member states of the European Union, known as the Eurozone. It facilitates trade and travel among these countries and aims to promote economic stability and integration.
