The common term for a baby kangaroo is "joey." Joeys are born very small and underdeveloped, typically about the size of a lima bean. After birth, they crawl into their mother's pouch, where they continue to develop and grow for several months. Inside the pouch, they latch onto a nipple to nurse and gain the necessary nutrition. As they mature, joeys gradually spend more time outside the pouch, exploring their surroundings while still relying on their mother's milk.
